Mamutik Island is the smallest island in the Tunku Abdul Rahman National Park archipelago, covering approximately 15 acres (61,000 m²). Located just 3 km from the Jesselton Point Ferry Terminal in Kota Kinabalu, the island is easily accessible, with a 5-minute speedboat ride from Tanjung Aru Beach.

Despite its size, Mamutik Island offers beautiful beaches, coral reefs, and a peaceful tropical atmosphere. Visitors can enjoy pristine sandy shores, crystal-clear waters, and scenic coastal views. The island is well-equipped for tourists, featuring a jetty, a 3-bedroom holiday house for rent, ranger quarters, changing rooms, restrooms, picnic shelters, barbecue facilities, freshwater supply, and electricity.
Mamutik Island is a popular resting spot for visitors exploring the national park. Its northeast coral formations are particularly striking, though swimmers should take care around the rocky areas, as sea urchins are common in these sections.
The island is rich in tropical flora, providing a lush backdrop for relaxation. Its surrounding waters are ideal for swimming and leisure activities, while the healthy coral reefs make it a favoured destination for snorkelling and diving. The reefs are home to diverse marine life, including Sergeant Major, Parrotfish, Butterflyfish, Angelfish, and Clown Anemonefish, as well as the exotic Distichopora coral species.

Mamutik Island also serves as a hub for water-based activities such as paragliding, banana boat rides, jet skiing, and other speedboat excursions. Visitors can enjoy a range of amenities, including food stalls, convenience shops, and colorful, comfortable resting tents. Clean public toilets, changing rooms, picnic tables, and seating areas are available throughout the island, ensuring a comfortable and enjoyable experience for all guests.
All visitors are required to pay a conservation fee for the national park, which can be covered directly by tour operators or included in activity packages offered on the island.
With its scenic beaches, abundant marine life, and well-developed visitor facilities, Mamutik Island is a must-visit destination for tourists seeking both adventure and relaxation in Sabah’s tropical paradise.
