Manukan Island is the second-largest island within Tunku Abdul Rahman National Park, Malaysia’s first marine national park. Situated just off the coast of Kota Kinabalu, Manukan Island is easily accessible by boat and is a favourite getaway for both locals and tourists.

Renowned for its pristine beaches, the southern coastline features several stretches of sand, with the eastern tip boasting the island’s most picturesque beach. The surrounding waters are rich with coral reefs, making Manukan a prime destination for snorkelling, diving, and swimming.

Among the five islands of Tunku Abdul Rahman National Park, Manukan is the most developed in terms of tourist facilities. Visitors can enjoy 20 chalet units, a clubhouse, several restaurants, and a diving centre. Recreational options are plentiful, including a swimming pool, football field, volleyball and sepak takraw courts. The island is supported by well-planned infrastructure, such as water and electricity supply, a desalination plant, sewerage system, and even a solar-powered public telephone.

Covered in dense tropical vegetation, Manukan Island also offers hiking trails, allowing visitors to explore its natural beauty and enjoy scenic views of the surrounding marine park. Its combination of accessible location, recreational amenities, and natural charm makes Manukan Island a must-visit destination for anyone exploring Kota Kinabalu and Sabah.
