The Sui Kheu Thai Pak Kung Temple, also known as Vihara Tri Dharma Bumi Raya Sui Kheu Thai Pak Kung, is the largest and most magnificent Chinese temple in Singkawang, earning its place as a key cultural and religious landmark in the “City of a Thousand Temples.” Perched on a hill in the Roban area, the temple is celebrated for its grand architecture, intricate dragon carvings, and vibrant decorative details.

Set on a hillside, the temple features a multi-tiered design with impressive staircases, massive ornate pillars, and panoramic views of Singkawang. Its intricate roof ornaments, colorful murals, and dense dragon carvings exemplify the artistry of traditional Chinese temple design.
As a Tri Dharma temple, Sui Kheu Thai Pak Kung serves followers of Confucianism, Taoism, and Buddhism. The temple honors several deities, including Fú Dé Zhèng Shén (Hok Tik Cin Sin), Shénnóng Dàdì, and Guan Yin, continuing a spiritual tradition introduced by Chinese settlers over 250 years ago.

Built on a 6-hectare site with the support of private donors—including prominent figures Jong Siauw Kong and Jong Siauw Khiang—the temple’s construction spanned approximately 10 years. It was officially inaugurated on 4 October 2022 by then-Mayor Tjhai Chui Mie, marking a milestone in Singkawang’s cultural landscape.
The temple serves as a central hub for the city’s Chinese-Indonesian community, primarily of Hakka descent, and continues the legacy of historic temples such as the Tri Dharma Bumi Raya Temple (founded in 1878). It plays a pivotal role during major cultural events like the Cap Go Meh festival and the Tatung parade, hosting rituals believed to cleanse the city of negative energies.
Whether you seek spiritual serenity, wish to witness the grandeur of Chinese temple architecture, or capture stunning panoramic views of Singkawang, Sui Kheu Thai Pak Kung Temple offers an unforgettable experience for both pilgrims and tourists alike.
